Wills, marriage agreements, inquisitions post mortem, marriage settlements, and other documents relating to various members of the family of Hastings and Earls of Huntingdon as well as related families. Land and office grants; appointments, commissions, royal mandates, and some legal papers. Included are summons to Parliament issued to various members of the Hastings family, extracts from rolls of Parliaments and from the Journals of the House of the Lords (1597-1604; 1640-1645; 1700-1703; and 1722-1764), and notes and documents concerning the imprisonment of Theophilus Hastings, 7th Earl of Huntingdon in May, 1692.

Theophilus Hastings, 7th Earl of Huntingdon (1650-1701), Tory and Royalist politician. Under James II, he held offices of Chief Justice in Eyre South of the Trent, and Lord Lieutenant of Leictershire and Derbyshire.
